Our Location, & Getting Here

Canada’s Yukon and especially the southeast Yukon where we operate is one of North America’s prime mixed bag (our term for multiple-species hunts) hunting destinations. A quick glance at the record books shows the top mountain caribou come from here. Moose are abundant and during the rut, 100% success is the rule. It is also a somewhat "undiscovered" mt. goat area. Grizzly, sheep, wolf, black bear and wolverine round out the bag.

Our exclusive concession, Area #22, is about the same size as Switzerland or five times as large as Yellowstone with only one person living in it and only 35 miles of road. Because there are few hunters in this immense area we can offer you long overlapping seasons which gives you the chance to hunt not only a healthy animal population but you also get to hunt at the best time, i.e. moose and caribou during the rut, goats when the weather is the nicest, bear in September and wolves in February.

The remote wilderness setting for our hunts make them expensive but in 15 years of guiding here, I have yet to meet another hunter other than along the 35 miles of road in one corner. For you, this means the animals probably have never seen another human and get to grow old and big. It also means they are not spooked so bow hunting is easier.

Even though our concession is huge, we limit ourselves to about 30 clients per fall. We do this so we can personalize each hunt, placing you with a guide who knows the area and the animals well. You always have your own guide and a camp has two hunters and two guides. Most of our guides are professionals who have been guiding for us for years. Many are trappers who live in the bush now and have for most of their lives. This experience and professionalism shows in many ways - notably in the number of trophies taken and in a high percentage of repeat (happy) clients.

Getting Here

These are the instructions that you need to prepare for your travel to Ceaser Lake Outfitters

Your gun permit is available at http://www.cfc-ccaf.gc.ca. or ask us to mail you one. Remember that you need a passport to enter Canada.

Watson Lake, our home, is right on the Alaska Highway so you can drive if you wish but most people fly. From locations in North America, you need to fly to Vancouver, BC or Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta. From there you fly on Air Canada or Air North. Personally we recommend Air North because they have a much better record of getting your luggage here with you!!! They also are easier to deal when you need to change flights for one reason or another. From Europe, Condor provides service direct from Frankfurt to Whitehorse from May through September.

If two of you are traveling together we recommend that you book your car rental privately. Otherwise, please let us know and we will give you other options. We have Budget, Hertz, National (through local agent Norcan) and Rent-a-Wreck (through the Whitehorse Subaru Dealer - contact information for all can be found here.

If you are staying in Whitehorse for the night, we recommend the Edgewater Hotel. Located at the Yukon River end of Main Street, they are a small family-run business and enjoy the hunters. Please say that you are hunting with Ceaser Lake Outfitters.

If you are driving to Watson Lake right from the Whitehorse airport, you exit the airport and turn left. You are now on the Alaska Highway, about 4½ hours from Watson Lake. There are stops at Jake’s Corner, Johnson’s Crossing, Teslin, and Swift River. When you get to Watson Lake, the Big Horn Hotel is on your right. It’s big and blue. Please state that you are hunters with Ceaser Lake Outfitters.

If you are driving direct to our home, you drive through town about a mile. On your left, you will see a RCMP building. Turn left there, you can’t turn right because it is a dead end. Drive a few hundred yards and on your right, there is a sign that says Wilkinson Drive and that’s our place.

Our phone number is 867.536.2174 and our email is terry@ceaserlake.com. Please feel free to call us anytime. There is very limited cell service.

We do need a copy of your itinerary so we know your exact travel dates and times. Please fax or email me a copy as soon as possible. Fax number 867.536.2174 - the same as the phone.

Looking forward to seeing you this season,
Terry, Ruth and Joel Wilkinson
